Coega Learnership Programme

Are you technical?  Do you enjoy construction work? If you answered yes, a learnership at Coega may be what you are looking for.

Coega Learnerships are specifically suited for candidates from the Coega Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) area, Eastern Cape, and the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro area. 

Coega training services offers learnerships, internships and apprenticeships focusing mainly on construction and technically related skills development.

Choose one of the following options:

  • Welding
  • Electrical Industrial
  • Solar Power
  • Boiler making
  • Fitting and Turning
  • Automotive Manufacturing
  • Dairy Manufacturing
  • Consumer Electronics

These learnerships focus on both practical and theoretical components and lasts for 12 months.

Requirements

To be considered for a learnership, candidates must:

  • be between the ages of 18 and 29
  • be a permanent South African resident or citizen
  • be able to read, write and speak English
  • be self-motivated and a team player
  • live within the area of the Nelson Mandela Bay
  • have a clean criminal record
  • be flexible and willing to learn and work

Candidates must not be permanently employed and must not have taken part in a similar program in the past.

Note that female candidates are preferred

Education

To be successful, candidates will also need to have a Matric certificate or NCV4 / N2 certificate from a Technical School with a specific focus on Mathematics / Mathematics Literacy and Science.

NCV candidates must have a background in Mechanical, Engineering, Electrical, Mathematics or related subjects.

When applying, candidates must include a detailed curriculum vitae with contact details and contactable references, as well as certified copies of all relevant certificates, ID, and proof of address no older than three months. 

Applying for a learnership

The closing dates for these learnerships vary, depending on the need.

Most open during October, November, and December, and close in January, February, and March of the following year.
